Q.  Do you need horseshoes in addition to The Bosana Boot?
A.  Yes. The Bosana Boot is made to go over a horseshoe. The shoe helps keep the Bosana in place. It can be used on an unshod hoof for horses that are sore footed, that kick or paw, are foundered, have bruised soles or abscesses, allowing you to medicate the hoof. Can also be used without a shoe for trailering or vanning to give traction and protection, lay ups, walking under tack, on hot walkers and other quiet work.

Q.  Do you leave the Bosana Boot on all the time?
A.  No. Use The Bosana Boot when the horse needs foot protection or traction. Use as a protective shoe when hauling horses that kick in the trailer. Eliminates Expensive shoeing. You do not have to pull shoes and then reshoe  

Q.  Is the Bosana Boot good for snow and ice?
A.  Yes. The Bosana Boot's polyurethane surface eliminates snow balling up on the bottom of the boot as it would on the sole of a horse wearing standard shoes. Shoes with Vidium studs are available for sheet ice.  

Q.  Will water get into the boot?
A.   Yes. A limited amount of water can get in the boot. This is harmless and sometimes makes the hoof healthier. The Bosana Boot can be used to soak and soften the hoof for easier trimming.  

Q.  How can the hoof be medicated with the Bosana Boot?
A.  Pack the desired medication in the sole or on the hoof and Put on the Bosana Boot. If the medicine is in liquid form, put absorbent cotton or gauze in the bottom of the boot.

Q.  Will sand and gravel get into the boot?
A.  Yes. A small amount of sand can get in but not enough to cause harm.

Q.  Will the Bosana Boot give good traction on pavement?
A.  Yes. They provide sure footing for the horse and safety for the rider. Shod horses can be dangerous on pavement. The Bosana Boot prevents slipping. They make excellent parade foot wear and reduce shock on pavement-like surfaces.

Q.  Can The Bosana Boot be used in the mountains?
A.  Yes. They give horses good traction in rocky terrain and protect the sole from stone bruises and the wall and bulbs from abrasion. The also prevent sparks from shoes when fire danger is high.

Q.  How does the Bosana Boot help when shipping?
A.  The Bosana Boot protects a horse that may step on himself, protects the hoof on horses that kick and protects other horses from being stepped on in slant load trailers. The boot provides excellent traction on ramps and on concrete or gravel when loading without a ramp. Horses can be hauled to polo games, barrel races, horse shows and other venues, remove the boot, compete, and then put the boot back on to haul home.

Q.  Is it necessary to trim the horse's hoof?
A.  All horses need a proper hoof trimming program whether they are barefoot or shod. Consult your farrier or vet for any trimming questions or concerns.
